Message from Pope Benedict XVI.
St Benedict is a “shining star” who can lead Europe out of the current “dark night of history”, Pope Benedict said in his talk on Wednesday 9th April.
The pope dedicated his General Audience this week to St Benedict of Nursia, “the father of western monasticism, who with his life and work exercised a fundamental influence on the development of European civilisation and culture”.
